The building was originally built in 1907 and used and owned by a furniture retailer and auctioneer. The building was rebuilt in 2005-2006, adding a new second floor office space with arched windows.

Stage 3 - Refurbishment of office, 4 Station Approach

Preparation

  • Complete gut the interior back to bare brick [ Done ]

  • Build rear wall, with new 1000x800 frosted window [ Done ]

  • Knock through 6 foot opening under stairs [ Done ]

  • Removal of false ceiling (steel lintel) [ Done ]

  • Minor damp treatment [ Done ]

Internal Work

  • Plasterboard/plaster all walls [ Done ]

  • Installation of wooden flooring throughout [ Done ]

  • Install bathroom and kitchenette [ Done ]

  • Installation of compact flourescant downlights; skirting trunction with double-data sockets; shelving; data/secure walk-in cupboard [ Done ]

External Work

  • Complete replacement of front windows [ Done ]

  • Make good and paint signage area (including power outlet) [ Done ]

  • Render and paint lower half of rear exterior wall [ Done ]

Stage 1 - External Work, 4-6 Station Approach

Work began on Monday 4th July 2005 on the redevelopment of the upper floors of the building. A number of 'enabling works' had already been completed, including party wall agreements and trial holes to expose foundations.

  • Erection of scaffold 'tin hat' to entirely cover the building [ Done ]

  • Clearing of everything in the first floor (including wall partitions and ceilings) [ Done ]

  • Removal of roof [ Done ]

  • Building up gable end walls by 600mm (requiring unanticipated total gable end rebuild for first and second floors) [ Done ]

  • Installing roof trusses [ Done ]

  • Install roof windows [ Done ]

  • Install roofing [ Done ]

  • Replacement of existing first-floor windows and addition of second floor windows, front and back [ Done ]

  • Removal of rear external iron staircase [ Done ]

  • Rendering gable ends, front and back, including lintel detail [ Done ]

  • Paint exterior (including lintels) [ Done ]

  • Removal of scaffold [ Done ]
